Decisions

Lately, I have been thinking about how I'd like to get my book out there. I have noticed that there are a lot of authors out there that write for the fun of it and have their work available for free downloads. This is appealing to me because I write for fun, so why not make it easier for those who'd like to read my books by having them available for free.

Then, I think that at the end of each book, I will say that I enjoyed writing the book and would love having those who read it repay me by sending me a review.

I have done self-publishing in the past. It got quite expensive for me. But I enjoyed it. Those who bought my book, gave great reviews, and supported my dream. I am thinking about doing this again. I had a great time sponsoring contests and prizes. Also, I made it known that donations to help would be appreciated. (Most tend to forget that the prizes came out of my own pocket, along with the advertising)

Well, as I sit here and ponder, I will complete my novels and announce when I have come to a decision. If you'd like to help me with the decision, feel free to comment with your suggestions. Once again, when the time comes, donations are lovely.

My thoughts of Novel Writing

Before I began, I will tell you my background on writing. I have wrote one short story, several poems, one compete novel, and I am working on my second novel. I have taken (free) online writing courses to help me expand in my writing as well as in my education. I plan on taking writing classes at the local college to continue to expand my writing. I'm in the process of creating a critique group in my home town due to the lack of one available to local writers.

I have been working hard on my latest novel for two years. I am actively getting closer to the end of the book. Then, the editing comes into place. But what will I do once those are done? I will start on my next book that I have in mind while working with the Copyright office in DC to get all my work properly copyrighted. This is an important goal even though my work is already copy protected, it still feels good to have someone to back me up, if I would need them too one day.

I feel that when writing a novel, it takes dedication and time. It takes lots of research. But most of all support. Support from loved ones and friends. The more support seen, the more drive it gives author's to continue. I have set up my own website: http://www.freewebs.com/raebethmcgee/ and a group on Facebook with several fans: http://www.facebook.com/#!/home.php?sk=group_301871352638&ap=1 .

My close family members support me in everything I do. From the fight to end a contract with a not so professional publisher.... to making my way to self publishing. I believe that it will be hard work on my end to be a self publisher as well as expensive. But what dream comes for free?

Well, thank you for reading my thought's for the day. Have a wonderful day.
