Where is my Kindle Email?

As an author, I have realized many people out there are unsure of what their Kindle email is or how to even find it. Below is a step by step on how to find this.

***Be sure you are logged into your Amazon account on your computer. It's much easier from a computer.***

Step One: Go to My Account. Click on it and this will take you into your amazon account.

Step Two: Scroll down to the DIGITAL CONTENT

Step Three: In the digital content section, find Manage your Kindle and click on it.
***You will be prompted to resign in. Do it. ***

Step Four: On the left side panel, find Manage your Devices, which is listed under the Your Kindle Account.

Step Five: There you should find the devices that the Kindle is on. If you use more than one type of Kindle app, there will be several different tabs. Find the tab of the device you would like books emailed to. Then, click on it.

Step Six: An email should be listed that looks like this XXXXXX-XX@kindle.com. (Sometimes there are underscores and numbers within this email.) This is the email you need in order to send books to your Kindle device.

***Remember when you're sending books via email, the email that is sending the book needs to be on your Approved Personal Document E-mail List. If you are unsure of how to find this, please use this post to help you.***

How do I add an Email to my Amazon Approved E-mail List?

Here is a step by step guide on how to find the approved emails on your Amazon account and how to add one if the one you have isn't listed.

Please log into your Amazon account from a computer. This guide is written from the computer perspective.

Go to My Account

Scroll down to the Digital Content Section.

Find Manage your Kindle

On the left side panel under the Your Kindle Account, select Personal Document Settings.

On the next screen, the section labeled Approved Personal Document E-mail List is where you want to see if the email you have is listed.

If the email is not listed, you will need to add it.

In the box that pops up, put in the email you want to use to send files to your Kindle device.

Then click the add email button.

The email should now be listed and ready to use.

Once you see it there, you can begin sending files to your Kindle from that email address.

Inspiration

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I would love to hear what inspires you. I've got several interesting replies to this and I would like to take a moment to share some with you. Enjoy. :)

Neil Low:
What inspires my writing most is reading about historical crimes that have either had a strong local or national appeal, like the Lindbergh Kidnapping, which touched the hearts of people around the world. Reading about the case, using my veteran cop experience, I was convinced that more people were involved in the kidnapping, the investigation was shoddy, and many of the trial witnesses were hungry for headlines. So of course I wrote about the case and expanded what might have happened. I've also been drawn to Seattle stories that gathered national headlines during their era, like the disappearance of an aging heiress, shortly after her marriage to a much younger man. The local police did a fantastic job solving that murder, but no one remembers the case today. Then there was the murder of a police officer during Prohibition, his body found inside a locked garage with two bullet holes to his face and another wound on top of his head. Despite the suspicious circumstances and other defensive wounds, the death was ruled a suicide by the Homicide Commander. As a modern day Homicide Commander of the same department, I had access to what was left of the original case file, and I didn't like what I read. This dubious finding makes for great material for me to write about and explore with my own theories. My current story involves the death of a young woman near a north end lake in Seattle. Evidence suggest sexual assault and points towards her father, a disabled war veteran, but is this an unfair character assassination by sensation seeking reporters? Again, there is more to this story that begs to be told. I love writing about cases like these where you know there is more to the story than we were told. I particularly like fictionalizing sketchy historical accounts, because I feel this is the best way to get at the deeper truths in life and explore the motives that drive people to do what they do. That's what makes a great story.

 Karen:
Nature inspires me a lot. I love being a passenger during car rides because I get to stare out the window at the scenery. I'll take my camera out with me and just take pictures of trees I find interesting, or one time, a Cadillac graveyard I stumbled on while hiking. All of it stores itself in my brain and eventually inspires, or just finds itself, in a story.

Camille Griffiths:

When I started writing, I got all my inspiration from the way I wished movies or books would have turned out. Now, I get a lot of it from life experiences, dreams, daydreams, and my daughter. =)

Calling All Authors,Writers, and Readers

The Writing World wants to do something different to include everyone. So, in hopes that this will be successful, I am asking everyone to share something with me. I'll choose a few out of the entries I get and display them on the main page.

Here's the question: What inspires you the most?

I get my inspiration from the world around me. Plenty of idea's actually came from my daughter saying something. I've gotten inspiration from sitting in my reading corner looking around the room. Inspiration comes from quotes I find online at Goodreads.com. (Which are posted to the right panel).

If your interested in submitting your unique ways to get inspiration, please use the contact form above and share those thoughts. If you're chosen, I'll send you an email announcing your entry will be displayed for all to see.

Good luck but most importantly: HAVE FUN!!!!

5 Things I Learned While Writing My First Novel

Some people, well actually, there's probably a lot of people who wake up one morning with the sudden urge to write. Then, there are those people who seem like they were born to write. I would say I fall into both of these. I knew I was a great writer with some talent while I was in High School. My English teacher constantly told me how great she thought I'd do with writing amazing books. This is what inspired me. I began writing Poetry at first. But this didn't seem to scratch that itch for the lack of better words. One assignment I had while in school was to write a short story. This is where I realized that I love to write. Although life had taken me in a different direction, I still wrote when I can. As an example, in a journal.

Several years after writing this short story, I became a mother. One day while my baby sister was visiting, we decided to go through old boxed in my apartment so I could get a little organization within the apartment. She came across this short story and read it. She told me it was really good and that I should continue it into a longer story. This inspired me. This was in 2005.

I begin plotting out a more structured outline for the entire story. Wanting to expand it. While writing it, I've learned some very valuable things during this time that I'd like to pass on to those who are looking into writing more.

So here are the 5 Things I Learned While Writing My First Novel:

1. Never Give Up- This is one thing that I seemed to struggle with at first. It seemed like no matter how much time and how much I poured my heart into it, I had this little voice within telling me I can't do this. I'm not a writer, I only think I am. It sounds crazy but it's true. There were times I felt it was nothing but trash. Did I quit? No! I didn't. I pushed myself to continue and I planned even more. There were times where I hit what they call a "writer's block." There's ways to over come this. I'll be posting these ways a bit later on in another post.

2. Create Deadlines- This is one thing that I had to get used to. I didn't want to be just a writer. I wanted to be a great one. I think that when it comes to writing, deadlines are a must. As an example, when writing, create a deadline for when you want to finish the work your currently doing. This helps with self discipline which is I think is a must within the writing world.

3. Set Goals- This set was very easy for me but it also ties in with number two. Set the goals and a deadline for when you want to meet this goal. Here is a suggestion- "Write (insert number) words per week." This is a goal and it has a deadline.

4. Write, Write, & Write- I don't think I can stress this enough. I think the more you write- the better you get at it. This pretty much talks for itself. But it really doesn't matter where or what you write. As an example, when I feel overloaded by my novel, I turn to my blog. I also take a break from writing and find time for me. This is when I feel the most relaxed about writing and where my best idea's come from. If you find it hard to write, take a break and read. Read anything. A book.. a magazine... a newspaper... anything!

5. Don't let others get you down!- This is, in my opinion, one of the most important. I've had people tell me that my dream of being a published author is crap and I'll never reach it. I've had them tell me that my dream of writing in general is just a front for not actually doing something with my life. Well, these only put more of a desire within me for wanting to reach my main goal. These people don't realize they're not hurting me, they're helping me. Use the negative words for inspiration to write. One thing I feel as a writer you need to learn, is this: Words are words. Do not write to impress. Write to express. If you can understand this, you're off to a great start.
