Where is my Kindle Email?

As an author, I have realized many people out there are unsure of what their Kindle email is or how to even find it. Below is a step by step on how to find this.

***Be sure you are logged into your Amazon account on your computer. It's much easier from a computer.***

Step One: Go to My Account. Click on it and this will take you into your amazon account.

Step Two: Scroll down to the DIGITAL CONTENT

Step Three: In the digital content section, find Manage your Kindle and click on it.
***You will be prompted to resign in. Do it. ***

Step Four: On the left side panel, find Manage your Devices, which is listed under the Your Kindle Account.

Step Five: There you should find the devices that the Kindle is on. If you use more than one type of Kindle app, there will be several different tabs. Find the tab of the device you would like books emailed to. Then, click on it.

Step Six: An email should be listed that looks like this XXXXXX-XX@kindle.com. (Sometimes there are underscores and numbers within this email.) This is the email you need in order to send books to your Kindle device.

***Remember when you're sending books via email, the email that is sending the book needs to be on your Approved Personal Document E-mail List. If you are unsure of how to find this, please use this post to help you.***

How do I add an Email to my Amazon Approved E-mail List?

Here is a step by step guide on how to find the approved emails on your Amazon account and how to add one if the one you have isn't listed.

Please log into your Amazon account from a computer. This guide is written from the computer perspective.

Go to My Account

Scroll down to the Digital Content Section.

Find Manage your Kindle

On the left side panel under the Your Kindle Account, select Personal Document Settings.

On the next screen, the section labeled Approved Personal Document E-mail List is where you want to see if the email you have is listed.

If the email is not listed, you will need to add it.

In the box that pops up, put in the email you want to use to send files to your Kindle device.

Then click the add email button.

The email should now be listed and ready to use.

Once you see it there, you can begin sending files to your Kindle from that email address.

Back Up, Back Up, Back Up

Lately I have been seeing a lot of posts on blogs and on Facebook where authors have worked hard on their works in progresses and the unthinkable happened. Their computers crashed. I figured I would put this out there seeing how I went through the same thing about a year or so ago.

I was about 60,000 words into Silenced when I got the blue screen of death. I panicked. The desktop was the only computer we had and all of my documents, pictures, etc... was gone. Yep, no way to get them back. Not sure how it happened but when my computer crashed, my hard drive was wiped clean.

Not only did I loose my daughter's third Christmas pictures among others, I lost all my work on Silenced. I was at a loss on what to do. My computer guy couldn't get any of the items I wanted the most back.

Since then I have found several ways to back up my work. As an author that totally supports all other writers out there, I want to remind you to back up your work. You won't regret it if the unthinkable happens.

I went out and bought thumb drives. Once I crawled out from under my bed and put my big girl panties on, I started over again. Each time I saved, I made sure to save the document on each thumb drive. I keep them every where. I have them in my car, purse, and various places. (I'm even thinking of if there ever was a fire in my home... my work is backed up in other places).

Please do yourself the favor and back up your work. I wanted to throw that out there and send a reminder to those who haven't done this yet.
