Book Description

Just when a young man feels he has lost everything he meets an angel and finds out that his life is just beginning. Gabby is an angel of God who shows him that life is always full of surprises, adventures and a lot more meaning than we can easily fathom. She shows Bo how to help others, be open to love again and find the hidden strength that lies within all of us. It is a story with heart and hope that will take you on an adventure of faith with one amazing angel.

Gabby, Angel of God will take you on one heck of a ride!

4 Stars
****

Gabby, Angel of God has an overall decent plot. I enjoyed the journey I went on with Bo and Gabby. The author did a great job at pulling the reader in and taking them on one heck of a ride. The main character Bo, becomes a widower with two children and doesn't seem to know how to move on from the death of his wife. Gabby, an angel appears to him to teach him how to live again.

There were some aspects I didn't particularly care about through the story. At times it seemed hard to believe, such as an angel of God cussing or threatening demons or mortals. Once I read this, it was a bit harder for me to continue. Some of the ways Gabby portrayed herself, was hard for me to read.

There were parts of the story where I was really drawn in but at times I found the story dragging. I loved the references to God within the book. Books based upon faith are winners to me, however if you're not drawn into these types of books, I would pass.

(Review) Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo

Title: Heaven is for Real
Author: Todd Burop with Lynn Vincent
Format: Paperback
Pages: 163

Description:

A young boy emerges from life-saving surgery with remarkable stories of his visit to heaven. Heaven Is for Real is the true story of the four-year old son of a small town Nebraska pastor who during emergency surgery slips from consciousness and enters heaven. He survives and begins talking about being able to look down and see the doctor operating and his dad praying in the waiting room. The family didn't know what to believe but soon the evidence was clear. Colton said he met his miscarried sister, whom no one had told him about, and his great grandfather who died 30 years before Colton was born, then shared impossible-to-know details about each. He describes the horse that only Jesus could ride, about how "reaaally big" God and his chair are, and how the Holy Spirit "shoots down power" from heaven to help us. Told by the father, but often in Colton's own words, the disarmingly simple message is heaven is a real place, Jesus really loves children, and be ready, there is a coming last battle.

*****

When I first started this book, I had no idea what I was in store for. I was thinking that this little boy Colton would confirm the stories I had grown up with and learned since I was a child. As I started reading Colton's journey and learning more about him, I came to care for him and the outcome of his situation. I found myself crying when he needed to go back into the hospital or more tests needed done.

I completely enjoyed reading this story. I'm a strong believer in Jesus Christ, so any book which one recommends for me to read, is put down on my to be read list. I recently (May 2013) experienced a loss of my own. I gave birth to my forever sleeping (stillborn) daughter. My world turned upside down and my faith became the stronger than it had ever been. I turned to Jesus, faith, and love for healing. That's when I sat down and prayed for my way of healing. I wrote my journey in a book "Saying Goodbye Without Saying Hello" and started my healing through pouring out my soul and hope within this book. Even ten months after her loss and my finding peace, I still question if she's sitting on Jesus' lap.

As I read through Todd Burpo's book and his son's story, I came up to one spot that put me in tears. The moment I found out the Burpo's had also lost a baby and Colton had seen her in Heaven. That made me think, if the unborn child they lost made it to Heaven and was with Jesus, what made my daughter Dakota any different? I had to stop reading briefly while I cried at this realization. My baby is in fact with Jesus and Heaven is for Real confirmed it for me. This little boy and his extraordinary trip helped me to fully see that Jesus loves the children, including mine.

This is by far one of the best books I have read this year and I even have an extra copy to giveaway. As I am an author myself, I can't wait to add this into one of the giveaways. If you're looking for a book that will have you thinking differently after and feeling the strong hope that I have now, you NEED to read this book!!

(Review) Today Only by D. Love

Title: Today Only
Author: D. Love
Pages: 246

Format: Kindle

Description:

In life, there are times you are granted a miracle. It may not be the one you wanted exactly, but it will be the one you need. It will prepare you for the next step in your journey and help you learn to accept the life you are given, even if that life can be heartbreaking.

 (Spoiler Alert)

Today Only was an heartbreaking read for me. The overall story was enjoyable, although there are some things which bothered me about the book. Personally I believe the falling in love of the main characters went a bit quick for my liking. At the start of the book, we are introduced to Rye, the main character who's facing the fact that she's dying of a tumor. The setting has us in a March of Dimes walk where Rye and her daughter Emily are participating in. We get a glimpse of Emily writing notes to herself as a way to cope with her mothers condition, but this isn't mentioned much more within the book. Emily and Rye run into Jet during the walk and they finish the walk together.

Shortly into the story, Jet and Rye quickly fall in love. I personally feel this was too quick because there were no event which lead up to these feelings. Up to this point, there's hardly any conversation and Jet finds Rye is in a car accident, which from this point on their madly in love.

Other than this, I did find myself holding back tears as the story progressed. I enjoyed reading about the love Rye's family has and the way they looked at life even though Rye was going to pass on. The compassion that was shown throughout the book by each character shows that life is to be lived filled with showing others how much you care about them.

Overall, I highly enjoyed the read and will be looking forward to more works by D. Love. I recommend this book to anyone who loves to read a tearjerker that has an overall message to it.

Below is a list of books which I recommend you give a try the next time you're looking for a book to read. If you decide to purchase and read any of the books listed below, please consider posting a review for the book on Amazon and other sites where it's listed. Thank you.

I loved this book. I recommend it to everyone who enjoys reading about the end of the world events.

Here is my review ...

Broken Earth is an entirely new world than what we know. Present day life is over and a new life style has begun. Disease takes over and there is only one thing left for Jess to do... survive. She does everything in her power to stay alive while gangs run rapid throughout the area and the disease has killed everyone older then 25 years old. The violence is creeping around each corner.

Jess isn't alone though. She has her best friend Ian and his younger sister, Lucie. As they are traveling to the promised land, they run into Molly. Each of them use their survival skills to stay alive during their trials.

Jess is faced with a brutal rape and what lies within her future has me wanting more. This book is one that I couldn't put down. Once I started reading it, I had to finish it. I loved the suspense and the characters. I would say that Jess would be my favorite so far. I think if you're looking for a fast paced, yet interesting read, this would be your pick.

I can't wait until the next one and I highly recommend this as a read.

This book helps to bring awareness to a matter in life no one likes to face... the death of a child. In this true story, Jamie takes the reader with her on her journey as she became an angel Mom. I recommend this if you're looking for a true story and one that will grab and pull you in. Warning be sure you have some tissues for this one.

Here is my review:

Where do I even begin? I lost my daughter three weeks ago. She was a stillborn. I was gifted this book to read. At first I wasn't sure if I could read it due to the fact that I'm going through the same thing the author tells within her story. However, curiosity got the best of me and I began reading. I'm very glad that I did.

This is a raw true story of the pain a mother endured with the loss of her baby girl. She gives it to the reader and doesn't sugar coat, which I am happy with that. I felt her pain and wanted to cry out for her. At times I felt like I was right there beside her, watching the story unfold right in front of my eyes.

The book is very well written and can give a small view into the world a mother enters with the loss of a child. I recommend this book to everyone. This book can help give hope to the Momma's who are going through the same thing and can give people who haven't a small bit of what mothers are going through when they are faced with the loss of a child.

*****
Grace, a toddler that has a fatal illness, has been called home to live with the Lord. Her parents are faced with what no parent should have to face... the loss of a child. I picked up this book because I have recently lost a child. My daughter was born sleeping. I am so thankful that I took the time to read Escaping Eternity.

As I was reading this book, I found a new hope that I have been longing for. This book is very well written. There are two different perspectives within this book; earth and heaven. Throughout the book the reader feels the pain that Grace's mother endures with the loss of her daughter. The reader is brought into an entirely different world with the views of Grace in heaven after her death.

I loved this book and I am impatiently waiting the next book within the series to be released. This is a must read.

I must say that this book means a lot to me. I lost my daughter Monday, May 27th, 2013 due to her being a stillborn. Yesterday, June 4th I went up to her grave site to read to her and this book jumped out at me while I was looking for the perfect book. I got the book and read it to her. The story made me think of one thing. While Lulu was looking for her laugh, one thing came into mind.

I may have lost my laugh now but I will eventually get my laugh back in the garden's of heaven.

I want to personally thank the author for writing such a great book that has helped me in the loss of my beautiful baby girl. I have read this book over and over since I got it and will continue to do so.

I think that for this story... I highly recommend it.

My Review
*****
(5 stars)

Little Orphan Anvil was a short and well worth it read. It's a blend of suspense and magic. The main plot of this Sci-Fi story flows well and the characters are well thought out. There was a few places within the story that seemed drawn out and it had a hard time keeping my attention. I chose to read on and I'm happy that I did. Towards the end of the book is when I was really pulled in and had to continue until the end. I had to find out what happened. I was completely surprised by some of the twists and turns within the story.

This book is appropriate for all ages. I may even pass it on to my six year old daughter and read it to her. The book is perfect for young readers. It had me laughing and sitting at the edge of my seat at times in suspense. I recommend this to all readers both young and adult. I think it's very enjoyable and will be reading the rest of the Trilogy.

(Review) Breaking the Nexus by Lindsay Avalon

Title: Breaking the Nexus
Author: Lindsay Avalon
Pages:
Format: Kindle

Description:
Throughout history, myths and legends of extraordinary creatures have been told and retold. Fantastic tales of demons and banshees, gryphons and dragons, and of course, magic. Stories that every child grows to learn are nothing more than fantasy…or are they?

Beyond the world you see lies a hidden realm, the Mythrian Realm, inhabited by all of the creatures you’ve been told are mere fiction. Only one thing lies between humans and the truth: the Nexus. A magical barrier erected millennia ago to separate the two realms, it has stood the test of time. Until now.

For Mythrian Sha Phoenix, magic is nothing new. But when she stumbles upon a portal on the verge of collapse, her fate will forever change. Pulled through the portal into the Human Realm, she lands in the middle of Detective Connor Flynn’s brutal murder scene. Soon it is obvious someone is using blood magic to try to bring down the Nexus. Together, Connor and Sha must work to unravel the secrets before the barrier falls and the realms collide.

The Nexus is breaking and all hell is about to unleash…literally.

My Review:

This book introduces a new type of paranormal romance. The love between Sha and her new found love Detective Connor Flynn happens in the blink of an eye in the midst of universal madness between to realms. The majority of the book takes place on earth but it introduces the realm of Mythrian. The Mythrian realm hold all magical creatures and it’s purpose is to keep the magic away from humans.

At the beginning of this story, Sha is sucked into the world, which lands her directly into chaos. Shortly after she meets Detective Flynn where she immediately falls in love with him. After hours of questioning, he begins to feel the same way about her. Thus, starting them on a journey they will never forget.

I liked the constant flow of the plot and the main idea behind the story. It’s intriguing. I had no problem getting pulled into the story until I came across the sex scenes. When it came to the love the two main characters showed, it was a bit unbelievable to me. The attraction happened way too fast for as little as the characters spoke to each other. It seemed like the sex scenes were drawn out. I think the attraction between the two could have been drawn out more.
Other than this I think the author did a great job and I’m looking forward to reading the next book. I give this book 4 stars.

My Review

****
(4 Stars)

To start off this book is a very quick read. It jumps right into action and doesn't stop until the end. When Remy is introduced she's center of all the action. At first it was hard for me to get into and understand what was happening. It didn't dawn on me until toward the end that life on earth as we know it now is over within Oceans of Red.

The plot was nicely thought out and the characters are likeable. I liked the relationship that Remy has with her older brother and younger sister. I didn't like how there's no background to help set the environment for the reader. When I am reading I like to picture the world in the book but this one lacked description to the new world.

The book ends a little too abruptly for my liking. I would have liked to see a bit more added it before it cut off. It felt like it was right in the middle of a scene. This is why I'm giving this book four stars. I think it's a good read and has me wanting to find out. So it seems that I need to read volume two to figure out what happens in the last scene.

(Review) The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap by Paulette Mahurin

Title: The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap
Author: Paulette Mahurin
Format: Kindle

Description:
A women's Brokeback Mountain. The year was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; the United States expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in South America; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for gross indecency under Britain's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted the Wilde news. It is a chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing.

My Review

*****

This book takes place back in in 1985 and is based around the main character, Mildred and her love for Edra, her cousin. Although the love shown within this story isn't the typical family love but of a couple who romantically love each other. Mildred and Edra strive and fight to keep their relationship a secret by befriending a guy to throw off the gossip group within town. Charley helps the ladies by becoming their friend. Rumors start that Charley and Mildred are pregnant and engaged. The stress of how the town treats Mildred gets to her nerves and makes her sick. Therefore she was unable to go to town which only fueled the rumors. The gossip group of ladies within this town made me sick. I hated how they meddled in the lives of others for the heck of it and it didn't matter if they were creating problems for those around them.

I enjoyed the read and had a hard time putting it down. I kept telling myself.. "One more chapter and then I'll lay down." Of course this turned into five or six and me falling asleep with my Kindle in hand. So yes.. I couldn't put down the book to sleep. I think the author did a great job with the plot and characters. I felt for Mildred and despised the gossip ladies within this book. The ending took me on a turn I didn't expect and I had trouble holding back tears.

I recommend this book to those who are okay with lesbians and who is looking for an enjoyable read.

My Review

When the huge thing hit the market with 50 Shades, I had to get in on the action. After so many times of reading about the over detail of passion within that book... I swore to never read another. Boy I'm glad I didn't stick to that. I loved Closure. It had the right amount of steam and romance. I began reading this book this morning and couldn't put it down. I ended up finishing it towards the afternoon. I wanted more and still do. This was definitely worth my time and I recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and steamy read.

[REVIEW] Obumbrate by Alivia Anders

Title: Obumbrate (The Illumine Series)

Author: Alivia Anders
Format: Kindle ebook
Description:
The anticipated sequel to Illumine!

Some secrets are dangerous to keep.
Some secrets are too dangerous to tell.

Essallie Hanley just wishes her life could go back to normal. But what's normal when you carry the burden of knowing you're a half-angel created for war, that the only person who can help you is a demon still waiting to kill you, and that your only chance for salvation rested in a boy who died in front of you?

If Essallie had turned her back on everything she'd learned, she could have made the most of her fractured life. That is, until Kayden told her that she's a ticking time-bomb; that at any given moment her blood could betray her, her veins burning her alive from the inside out until nothing but ash remains.

Desperate to find answers, and possibly find her only chance for survival, Essallie heads back for New York City, back to the place where it all began. With every answer comes a price, and with every price the risks and rewards become greater. But when Essallie soon finds herself the target of an unknown hunter determined to have her, all appears to be at wits' end. Until Ari, a man claiming to be Nephilim, steps in. Charming, gentle, and boldly brave, he seems to be exactly what Essallie needs.

Could Ari be the missing piece of her puzzle, or is he the promise of her demise?
Review (****)
Obumbrate is action packed and continuing the adventure with Essallie. The second book within the Illumine Series hooked me from the beginning. Essallie learns more about her powers and what she stands for. She's constantly fighting to find out the truth. Throughout the book Kayden, Ari, and Serena help her find her way out of some pretty tight situations. The plot runs smooth and the characters help the story to be more enjoyable.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an adventure that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat just like Illumine did. I can not wait to read the third book and see what happens.

I give this book four **** stars.

I was given a copy of this book in return for a honest review.

How to Write a Book Review

As a published author I have asked numerous readers to read Silenced and review it. Over the past week of the release of Silenced, several people have asked me what exactly is a review. Well... to start off... reviews are an authors life line. Great reviews help drive that author to continue in their writing and the not so good reviews help the author grow to become a better writer. They are not a way of editing but to help potential buyers.

Below you will find a brief explanation of what authors expect from a review ... good or bad.. and how to write one. So here we go.

Book reviews are an evaluation of a books quality, meaning, and goal. They should focus on the strengths and weaknesses of the content. It's not a critical book report or summary. It evaluates how much the author has succeeded in reaching their main goals with their work. When writing a review there's no correct way to do it.

First when books reviews are started, they should state the essential information within the first paragraph, which can include the authors name or the title of the book. If it's known, state the authors purpose for writing that particular book. Mention from what point of view it was written and if the author did it well.

Second answer several different questions in sentence form. Did you enjoy the overall story? Was it worth the read? Would you recommend the book to another? What did you think of the storyline and characters? How did the book affect you while reading it? Did you come to care about the characters or relate to a certain character?

Book reviews can range from 50 words to 1500 words. There's really not a limit on how long they have to be unless it's specified. Most authors aim to have reviews published on sites such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Some tend to invite Bloggers to write reviews as well.

One main point to remember is that when you are writing a review.. the plot should not be given within the review.

There you have it. My personal views on writing reviews. Enjoy and I hope I cleared up some of the confusion.

[REVIEW] Illumine by Alivia Anders #ebook #Amazon

ISBN-10: 1469920670

Description:

But she soon realizes that her return home is only the beginning of a long and twisted road taking her as far from her humanity as possible, with Kayden, the demon originally summoned to slaughter her, leading the way. Unable to touch her but oddly curious, he joins Essallie in her search to find out just what she is. But neither of them were prepared for the secrets they've begun to unravel, secrets that will change Essallie and everyone around her forever.

My Review

At first I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy Illumine. It confused me. I wasn't ready for the very graphic beginning. As I read into the third chapter I realized I needed to read more. I had to find out what was going to happen. Essallie pulled me right in with her other than normal ways with conjuring fire and sprouting wings. When I found out what she was I didn't stop reading. I needed to see what happened.

Illumine turned into a quick read. The plot was well thought out and there weren't many areas within the book that requires an editors attention. Alivia did well with this story and I can't wait to read the next book.

I give Illumine 5 ***** stars and recommend it for my followers. This is a must read.

I was given a copy of Illumine in exchange for my honest review.

When Yves, her maker and head of the Vampire Council requests her assistance in hosting the mysterious, yet dashing Prince of Witches, Conall, she has no option but to accept. But Anais is the keeper of secrets; secrets that can kill. Protective of her family’s undiscovered uniqueness, Anais is guarded, yet intrigued by the enigmatic witch prince.

Conall and Anais are drawn together when confronted with fatal encounters and an unimaginable destiny… if she’s willing to accept it and fight.

Review:

The world created within Coffin Girls takes the reader on a new journey with vampires, wolves, witches, and other paranormal creatures. This story line is one of its own. The plot seems well thought out and doesn't give away too much with what might happen. I was pulled in to the book once I finally sat down to read it. I could not put it down.

The action thrown into the mix of romance is the perfect combination. I love me a hot vampire with a huge roll within their worlds. When Anais meets Conall, this is exactly what happens. Conall is the prince of the witches and he sweeps Anais off her feet.

I enjoyed this read and look forward to reading the next within the series. I give this book 4 **** stars.

I was given this book in return for an honest review.

(Review) Northwest by JH Glaze

Title: Northwest
Author: JH Glaze
Pages: 153
Format: 153

Description

John Hazard is back on the trail of danger! After a life-altering event, he has resigned from the police department in small town America and enrolled in a Paranormal Investigation course at Bay University, a community college in San Francisco.

For their final grade, the class ventures to the Pacific NorthWest to film a documentary on a mysterious phenomenon they call “The NorthWest Triangle,” where scores of small aircraft and people have gone missing without a trace.

Professor Macy Renner believes the answer lies in an unsolved mystery from her own past and is determined to discover it, no matter the cost.

Emily Sparks has her own reasons for going, and it’s not just about the money. She is about to jump from the frying pan into the fire as she signs on for a journey that will transport her into the veritable jaws of hell.

Can a rag-tag team of misfits succeed in uncovering the source of the supernatural anomaly, or will the terror that lies in wait consume them in the process?

Come along on an adventure where you will learn that you don’t have to outrun the creatures behind you. You only have to run faster than the person beside you!

Review

To start this review I can sum this book up in one word.... WOW. I loved it. It's an action packed thriller that leaves the reader wanting more. When John and his team depart on this adventure, their main goal is to find anything paranormal. While in mid air, their plane crashes into the worst nightmare one could imagine. Each member of the group has their own reasons for deciding to join in on the trip, which I must say are rather interesting and they are revealed throughout the book.

The plot is one that is hard to guess. I love this aspect. I dislike books where I can guess what's going to happen. In my opinion, it takes the excitement out of the read. BUT Northwest is far from a guess. This book will keep you guessing until the very end.

I think JH Glaze did it again and wrote an incredible book. I recommend this if you are looking for action, horror, and a great nail biting time. I give this book 5 ***** stars.

(Review) Energy- The Awakening by MJ Schutte

Title: Energy- The Awakening
Author: MJ Schutte
Pages: 334
Version: ebook

Description:

As teenagers, Brighton and Lilian live quiet, peaceful and uncomplicated lives in a remote mountain village called Four Mountains. They soon discover that their friendship has developed into something deeper, but before they can explore their feelings for each other, a dark secret about Lilian’s past rips their world apart. Brighton finds himself fighting for the girl he loves as well as his own life while simultaneously discovering an even bigger secret about himself.

The two young lovers simply want to live in peace but they are constantly hunted because of their special talents.

Brighton has to overcome great odds and even death itself if he is going to save himself and Lilian from the evil determined to destroy them.

Review: (Spoiler Alert)

Energy- The Awakening by MJ Schutte is an original story with the power to pull in the reader. Brighton and Lily, the main characters, have known each other their entire lives and fell in love. Both don't realize they love each other until they are separated and told that the other has died. Once reunited, they are faced with a line of events they have to deal with in order to survive and make the world they live in a better place.

While going through the events, Brighton realizes he has powers that make him the most powerful within his world. His powers to feel the presence of others and to manipulate the energies around him, which save him and Lily several times.

MJ Schutte creates a unique world that is full of chaos and Brighton has to fight for the lives of those around him. The plot flows well although at times it seems as if they are all really young and need the supervision of adults. I found myself laughing out loud and even crying in parts. I very much enjoyed reading this well written book. I give this book 4 **** stars.

Blessed Be~

An ebook exclusive novella of Kymberlee Burks-Millers Moon Coven Series

Review: Haunted Moon by Kymberlee Burks-Miller is a novella that doesn't waste time pulling in the reader. From the very first page, I was hooked. I needed to find out more. Kymberlee created a world where witches and vampires are at war. Lilyann is pulled right into the middle of it. This short novella gives a peek into the life of Lilyann as her destiny claims her.

I give this 5 ***** Stars. It feels more like a tease and with it, the reader is left wanting to find out more. I know I will be reading the Moon Coven Series.
