Tour Stop | The Mirror by Candace Bowser

Genre: Paranormal Romance/Horror
Length: 280 Pages

Inside the Mind of the Author

Inside the mind of an author…now there is a truly terrifying, absolutely mystical, magical place filled with unspeakable horrors, love so deep it transcends time, and the simplicity of a child. What makes a writer tick? That is double edged question that many have pondered; for me it is a combination of things. Every author is different in how they formulate a story. Some have story boards where they write down all the ideas they have for the novel and then figure out how to weave it all together. Others create outlines with unbelievable details, and then there are authors like me who know the beginning, know how they want it to end, and what comes in the middle, well that is often left to be determined. My husband laughs a lot because my purse is a virtual cornucopia of left over characters, undeveloped plotlines, secret betrayals, and unparalleled horror scribbled on pieces of notepaper, napkins, and whatever else was available to write on, including checks! Inspiration can happen at any place at any time. It can be while watching some mindless television show or while picking up a few groceries. A novel I am working on now just popped into my head. Now, 190 pages later, Remy is part of larger picture where immortals of all kinds sought refuge in the New World and formed what later became New Orleans…with a twist of course. On some occasions, works are dream inspired but honestly I can say dreaming about characters happens more after they have been dancing around in my head for a while. Each author’s inspiration is different. It can be as simple as seeing a sweet kiss exchanged between an unknown elderly couple and wondering how their life might have unfolded or in the passing by of the butcher at the grocery store with is apron covered in blood and the tray full of freshly cut meat!

Adrianna Bristol stood before her grandmother's antique mirror and stared at the black velvet cloth covering it. She just couldn't believe her nana was gone. The mirror had hung in that exact same spot for the last twenty years, never once had it been moved from the alcove. Adrianna remembered the stern words of her grandmother when she was a child. Annabel Bristol had told her, "promise me Adrianna that you will never uncover the mirror. No matter what it may whisper to you, you must never remove the cover." Adrianna laid her hand against the cool velvet which covered the glass. As she walked away the mirror whispered to her, "you belong to me now. You belong to me." A four hundred year old curse has plagued the Bristol family since the 1600's. A curse born out of a love so rich and a betrayal so deep, that time itself has no power to stop it. Only Adrianna has the courage to find the truth behind the curse and set her family free. But will the Mirror release its darkest secrets?

Author Jamie Gibson tells the story of how her second pregnancy affected not only her life, but those around her. She describes the trying circumstances surrounding her family during her troubled pregnancy. And Jamie shows how a baby, that she was never able to hold, made her stronger to face the rest of her life.

My Review

Where do I even begin? I lost my daughter three weeks ago. She was a stillborn. I was gifted this book to read. At first I wasn't sure if I could read it due to the fact that I'm going through the same thing the author tells within her story. However, curiosity got the best of me and I began reading. I'm very glad that I did.

This is a raw true story of the pain a mother endured with the loss of her baby girl. She gives it to the reader and doesn't sugar coat, which I am happy with that. I felt her pain and wanted to cry out for her. At times I felt like I was right there beside her, watching the story unfold right in front of my eyes.

The book is very well written and can give a small view into the world a mother enters with the loss of a child. I recommend this book to everyone. This book can help give hope to the Momma's who are going through the same thing and can give people who haven't a small bit of what mothers are going through when they are faced with the loss of a child.

Check out My Angel on Goodreads and add it to your to bed read list.

“A book you will fall in love with and want to read over and over.” ~ Bite This! Vampire Book Blog

“A breath of fresh air and a truly captivating read.” ~

“I could hardly put it down… I can’t wait for the next book in this series.” ~

“Breathless takes you on a spellbinding adventure.” ~ Sassy Book

College freshman Leesa Nyland has been fascinated by vampires since she was three years old. That’s when her mom started acting weird, refusing to go outside during the day and insisting the sunlight hurt her skin because she had been bitten by a one-fanged vampire…

But fascinated doesn’t mean Leesa believes—any more than she believes in blue fire, people who live for centuries, and kisses that can kill. When her beloved older brother suddenly disappears, she is forced to confront all these and more.

She must also decide what to do about her mysterious new boyfriend. She knows Rave likes her a lot—so why won’t he kiss her?

Breathless is the first book in The Blue Fire Saga, a modern fantasy romance series in the mold of Twilight and Vampire Diaries, but filled with enough new ideas to excite even the most devoted fans. Laced with passion, warm humor, suspense and supernatural danger, Breathless will alternately bring a smile to your face and make your heart pump faster. So don’t miss out—order your beautiful hardcover edition of Breathless now (simply scroll down) and enjoy all the passion and thrills you’ve come to expect from this provocative genre!

Book Two in The Blue Fire Saga: DEATHLESS

“Deathless is gripping and wonderfully written.” ~ Literal Addiction Paranormal Book Club

“An amazing, suspenseful, mysterious read. I loved it!” ~ Lovetiggi’s Book Reviews

“Jaw dropping surprises, thrills & suspense. It left me wanting lots more!” Amy C. Palatka, FL

After surviving the harrowing events chronicled in Breathless, book one of The Blue Fire Saga, Leesa Nyland hopes she’s done dealing with all things supernatural. All she wants to do now is enjoy college life—and to figure out how to kiss her vampire hunter boyfriend without his magical fire burning her to a crisp. She doesn’t think that’s too much to ask.

So she’s not too happy when she begins dreaming of rotting bodies rising from their graves. She likes it even less when the terrifying dreams begin to come true. When objects around her suddenly start moving seemingly on their own accord, she figures that’s more than enough. It’s a good thing she doesn’t know about the powerful vampire who has sworn vengeance against her…

Deathless continues the story begun in Breathless, book one of The Blue Fire Saga. Like its predecessor, Deathless is filled with passion, humor, suspense and supernatural danger. It is available in trade paperback. To order, simply scroll down.

Book Three in the Blue Fire Saga: HELPLESS

“Three ‘nots’ about Helpless. You are NOT going to want to put it down. You are NOT going to want it to end. And you are NOT going to want to wait for the next book.” Kristi B. Los Angeles, CA

To avoid any “spoilers” about books 1 and 2, I will not summarize the plot of Helpless. Rest assured it is filled with the same passion, humor, suspense and supernatural danger that made reviewers and readers of all ages fall in love with Breathless and Deathless.

Book Four in the Blue Fire Saga: FEARLESS

Fearless continues the story of college freshman Leesa Nyland and her supernatural vampire hunter boyfriend Rave. After rescuing her brother from the clutches of vampire coven in Breathless, Leesa was hoping to return to her normal, boring life. Trying to figure out how to kiss Rave without his magical fire burning her to a crisp is all the adventure she wants. But in addition to hungry vampires, there are evil wizards and a Necromancer who must be stopped, and it turns out Leesa may be the key to defeating them. Now if she can just stay alive long enough to learn how to control some special powers she never knew she possessed, and if the dead will just stay dead…
Fearless is filled with the same passion, suspense, supernatural danger and warm humor as the previous Blue Fire Saga books. Order yours now and enjoy this latest installment of this popular series.

Book Five in the Blue Fire Saga… HEARTLESS

Heartless continues the story of Leesa and Rave, along with Dominic and Cali and other favorite Blue Fire Saga characters. Heartless also introduces a new kind of supernatural enemy — xenorians. They are members of an ancient sect that believes all magic eventually turns to evil and so must be stamped out before that can happen. That’s definitely not good news for Leesa and her magical companions.
Heartless is filled with the same passion, suspense, supernatural danger and warm humor as the previous Blue Fire Saga books. Order yours now and enjoy this latest installment of this popular series.

BLUE FIRE HEAT — an Adults Only companion piece to the Blue Fire Saga.

(Blue Fire Heat is no longer available in paperback through this site. You can order a print copy from CreateSpace at )
The Blue Fire Saga books are “crossover” novels—meaning they are meant to be enjoyed by YA and Adult audiences alike. In writing the books, I tried to make the romantic scenes as passionate as I could, while still keeping them clean and somewhat tame. Some of my adult fans, however, have been after me to heat things up. This book is for them. It contains a series of sexual episodes featuring important characters from the Blue Fire Saga.

These stories are HOT! So if you are over 18, order your copy of BLUE FIRE HEAT and get ready to close your curtains, lock your door & start reading. If you are under 18, please get your parents’ permission before proceeding.

BLUE FIRE BEGINNINGS – short story ”prequels” involving Blue Fire Saga characters.

(This book is no longer available in print thru the website. Paperback copies can be ordered through CreateSpace at . Ebooks can be ordered through the link on the ebook tab at the top of the authors page.)

Blue Fire Beginnings is a collection of 5 short story “prequels” involving characters from the Blue Fire Saga. Learn how Stefan became a vampire, how Dominic became a wizard and how he escaped from the traitorous attack of the renegade black waziri, and how Jenna discovered she was a witch. Read about the origin of the one-fanged vampire that bit Leesa’s mom, and get the full story behind the seduction of Bradley by Edwina. These stories are a must read for any true Blue Fire Saga fan.
Blue Fire Beginnings also includes an in-depth interview with author Scott Prussing.

Dreams of the Last Born is no longer available in paperback through this site. You can still order a copy through Createspace. Here’s the link:  It is also available in ebook form.

“I’m loving Dreams of the Last Born!!! It’s already brought me to tears twice. I remember why I love reading so much now…” Author K.R. Jordan

He promises her she will bear a healthy son, but that he cannot stay to see the baby born. Deadly beings known as Bloodhunters are on his trail and will never rest until they have destroyed him.

Street Team Shout Out with Melina Turner

Here we are with the third author of the day. Let's welcome....

Melina Turner

Hi I am Mel aka Melina Turner and live in Aussie with the rest of my family, in a little town called Gympie.

I began my writing at an extremely young age starting in primary school in year 3 when I heard about Write4Fun, a school writing competition. My first poem was called "Wild Brumbies" published in 2003 when I was in year 3. I soon after moved from Nambour to Gympie an hour away. Where I was influenced by an amazing English teacher to continue writing.

In 2005 when I was in year 5 I was finally awarded Honoured Writer for my poetry in which I continued and still do.

In 2013 I was awarded, Best Poet of 2012 and put into a poet book that is now in the library of Congress.

After I began poetry I soon wanted to branch out thus starting in 2003/5 The Deathly-Roses Vol 1 a flash-fiction prose piece that will be published 2013. I then gaped it out and wrote the 2nd Volume in 2007 to be published 2004. The third to be written this year. My goal with these books was to make it short and poetic-like to gain non-readers interest and I believe I have done that. TDR vol 1 will be made into a movie around 2016 by TMFilms a indie film maker.

As of then 2012 I slowly branched out and started helping co-author for Timothy Mitchell Films. Helping with scripts for movies.

As of now, I will be collaborating with authors and getting myself out there more. Writing all and any genre and different types of pieces.

As of 2013 I am starting to write my first ever novel called "GoodSpeed" that might be my best work, not counting poetry so far.

My dream is to publish and show people what I can do. My future career is to own a 2 story business where I can open my online store Melina's Treasure Dungeon (book store and library as well as have a restaurant/cafe/catering biz in the other story.

I would continue writing and also open Mel.T E my sweet and free little group that helps self-publishing authors with their work and self-publishing.

That is all. Thank you.

TDR vol.1 (a flash fiction series) that came to me while reading manga and figuring out a word puzzle on roses. It is written in a way that a whole new type of writing genre is involved. A poetic story, as the writer sets the scene with a narrative prose poem form giving the piece the quick pace and loads of action. This piece was one of my first pieces as I wrote it in year 3, 2003. The Deathly-Roses Volume 1 is both for teens & adults with its genre being Dark Fiction and a drop of Paranormal.
The rights have been given for TDR1 to be made into movie 2016 by indie film-maker TMF.

TDR1 is the beginning of a young teen girls adventure to find not only her true family, her real family but who/what she really is. But Wisty (Wisteria Deathly-Rose) has yet to choose a side between good and evil and this time they're taking no chances....

What people are saying about TDR1?

- Entering the pages of "author Melina Turner's" first book, I didn't know what to expect.....I was quickly amazed by the complexities of the character's, the subject, the plot and overall storyline...The ease with which "Author Melina Turner" drew you into her book, keeps you focused and wanting more the further you read.....Her novel "Deathly Roses Volume 1" is a definite read, for anyone who loves the supernatural abilities of "I Am Number 4"......I love all the characters and the storyline they have the potential to continue on through a few more books. Making it a hit book series or anthology. Truly talented is "Author Melina Turner" and very well written is her book. I can't wait to read the next instalments to this series. What an excellent start to a terrifically magical series!!
Review: De Ann Townes Jr (author: "Peer Inside My Soul & See")

There is an honest voice in Turner's writing evident in "The Deathly-Roses". Turner writes with wit and manages to keep the reader engaged over the course of the two volumes. The end with bonus volume 3 sneak peak (which could even serve as a prologue for volume 2) reminds me of the ending of "Mad Max", in the sense that the character has slowly sunken to depths of insanity that she now is ready to extract more violent horrors. Some descriptions are a little bad to visualise, but I guess that's part of its poetic beauty. The first person narration voice isn't narrating character's names in third person in the same chapter. Still, its only a small thing which readers will choose to ignore because of its engaging content. Definitely get into this series. Well craft and very well devised.
Review: Timothy David Mitchell
(movie maker of "The Waiting Game")

-"The Deathly-Roses" is an intriguing fragmented narrative that incorporates "memories" and "future" to delve into a story of mystery and dark humor. Melina Turner successfully develops a narrative that keeps the readers gripped and questioning the characters' motives and intentions. There's a lovely level of humor and a very real voice to be heard in this short story. What I found most impressive was Melina's ability to control her fragmented narrative, this is actually a great accomplishment for a young writer. She deliberately challenges the readers and breaks the traditional narrative structure, to create a well-crafted post-modernist piece of writing.

-The Deathly-Roses....the title itself would make me want to read the book. The first time Melina told me about this book's title I loved it! I set to read it and finished it rather quickly. I'd say this that I'm not a fan of this style of writing - prose poetry form, but I really liked the storyline. By the time I was done reading it made me anxious to find out what would happen next.....It's not very often that I'm inspired to sketch, but after reading the book I kept thinking about the title and ended up sketching...Any book that can inspire me to do anything is definitely a must have for me! Can't wait to see the next book and the anime!
(author: The Curiosity Key)

-Melina Turner's "The Deathly-Roses" Volume 1, is a refreshing story well written story, with an excellent array of supernatural thought provoking concepts. The characters both serve as well written portrayals of angels, corrupt business tycoons and tragic misunderstood victims each with their own complex back stories and agendas. At the heart of the characters is the character of Wisty. A tortured young girl, drugged and forced to serve under a corrupted rich family and forced to marry a stranger against her will. Melina Turner does a great job at bringing the character of Wisty to life, as the feeling of sadness on Wisty is ultimately reflected upon the reader as well as the strength and courage Wisty gains upon learning of real purpose in life and her love and affection with the character Iriama, a mysterious stranger who shows sympathy towards Wisty. The story as a whole is edgy and well-driven, with a sense of humour in various areas. All in all a very well written story and I cannot wait for the next instalments in this exceptional series.

Also if TDR1 sells well. 2 months after its released I may talk to publisher about releasing TDR2 in 2013.

Street Team Shout Out with Amber Garza

Here's the second author of today's shout out day.....

Amber Garza

Amber Garza, writer of YA ficton, is the author of the PROWL TRILOGY, ENGRAVED, DAZZLE, SHATTER, FALLING TO PIECES, and STAR STRUCK.

Tripping Me Up released!!

Tripping Me Up released early than anticipated! It’s currently available in kindle and nook, as well as any other format on Smashwords. The paperback will be out in a couple of weeks.

I may not have special powers, but sometimes I think I’m invisible. No one in my high school seems to notice me at all. When they finally do it’s because the popular Tripp Bauer accidently smacks me in the face with a wad of paper. Talk about humiliating. Only now he keeps talking to me. At first it was to apologize, and I figured once I forgave him he’d go away. But he doesn’t, and now my feelings for him are starting to grow. And that scares me. Guys like Tripp Bauer don’t fall for girls like me. Or do they?

Book Spotlight

Here's what this book is about:
Seven years ago sexy Bree fled Devil's Peak, Alaska, disillusioned with her high school romance and with a baby in her belly. Now, she's back and seeing devilishly handsome Todd again challenges her carefully constructed plans for amicable co-parenting.
Todd's delight at Bree's return swiftly turns to disgust when he discovers her secret and he vows to keep her at arm's length. Upon discovering the context behind her secreting their child, he decides to give their daughter the love and stable family home he never knew. Despite her attraction to Todd, Bree has no interest in rekindling their relationship and is focused on settling into the town.
But the town and its match-making busy-bodies are not willing to allow the lovers to remain apart and test their resolve in a series of planned misadventures.
Bree is home for good but will she be home for love?
I had the chance to read this book and here is my review:
Where to start with this one? The author created an amazing read that I very much enjoyed. I fell in love with this story and I'm so glad I decided to read it. The cover had me second guessing my decision because I'm not one for an overly romantic story. Since the title includes "contemporary romance" I gave it a try. I'm very happy that I did.

The plot runs smoothly and the characters are very loveable. Bree is the main character who moves back home to Alaska to be with her family and introduce her daughter, Amber to her father Todd. Todd has no idea of Amber's existence until Bree moves back home after six years. I love how Todd steps up to the plate and fathers Amber the best he can. The relationship that grows quickly between Amber and her father is very heartwarming.

Bree and Todd get's off to a rocky start after a morning of hurtful words are said. After reading this scene it showed me that each character has their own flaw and their not perfect, which I love. Although I guessed the ending, I very much enjoyed the read. There's a part of me that wishes it was a bit longer so I could see a bit more into their lives but every story that has a happy ending needs to end somewhere.

I strongly recommend this book to those who love a touch of love in their romances without it going overboard.
