ABOUT:
We dream of our future and what we want to be when we grow up. These dreams are who we come to be: unless our destiny has other plans. Sophie Hathorn stumbled upon her destiny through her love of books. She learns she's part of a legacy of the most powerful witches, but with a twist. She's also part Wizard, which makes her the first and only Hybrid.

Struggling with her newly found life, Sophie must prepare and train for the biggest fight of her life. Eros, a Shapeshifter, and Succubus plan to overtake Sophie's hometown and call it his own. He's created an army of Cambion to help him fight. In the midst of the threat, the Wizard's Council comes into town to help Sophie prepare for the fight of her life when she finds herself romantically attracted to Mason; the son of the most powerful Wizard. However, the law has been set for centuries by the Goddess, Pax that no witch or wizard shall be involved romantically.

Not only is Sophie pressured to become the best Hybrid, but she's also fighting the internal battle of the feelings she has for Mason. Will she be able to handle the physical and emotional battle she's about to face or will she fall short?

***

Three days passed in a blur and Sophie was on edge. The Blackguard was due to arrive anytime during the day, which made her nervous. Time was ticking away, getting closer to the inevitable. Soon she would find herself making the journey into the Underworld and using the abilities she'd trained hard with Mason to perfect flawlessly. Today wasn't any different. Mason had her up right before sunrise and they were out the door to watch the beauty of the sun taking over the heavens, while birds dashed around graciously through the skies.

The past few days had been such a learning experience for Sophie. She learned exactly what she was capable of and learned more about the man who had, not only her heart but was connected in spirit. Surprisingly, he was a bit of a nerd under the tough outer side. He enjoyed some light reading and relaxing. Photography was his passion and he loved romance. He was a hopeless romantic. Three days of being alone with him, he had managed to fully win Sophie's heart and vowed to do whatever he had to while she was gone to change the laws of the land. They were meant to be together and he was destined to change anything that stopped it.

"What's on your mind?" Mason asked since Sophie was missing each power hit he knew she easily could have avoided.

"I'm an anxious mess," she replied.

"What else is new?" Mason joked.

"Hey, I may be a mess, but I'm a hot mess. Plus, you would be too if, in a matter of a few days, you'd literally be going through hell." Sophie rebutted.

"True. Wanna sit? Take a break?" Mason asked, motioning toward the large rock Sophie came to know well.

"Sure."

They walked hand in hand over to the rock and sat down. Nothing felt as good as being with Mason and knowing he had her back. "I seriously have no idea why I volunteered to do this. I mean, I do, but I don't. My gram is there, waiting. However, I have no idea what I may face and I'm not looking forward to the overly hot and nasty environment. The stench is enough," Sophie rambled.

"Shhh, let's not focus on that. You're doing what you are meant to do Sophie. Take pride in that. There are people out there who are fighting to find out their true purpose. Yours found you, not the other way around." Mason said.

After taking a deep breath and exhaling, "I know but not everyone is fighting Lucifer in Hell," she finished looking off in the distance.

"I can't tell you how to do this. Nor can I tell ya how to succeed, but what I can say is that I'm proud of you for trying. It kills me knowing you'll be doing this without me."

"It's what I was born to do...right?" Sophie asked, giving an unsure, yet questioning looks toward Mason.

"It's pretty messed up that you're in this position, but I think it's admirable for you to take a stand and do what needs to be done. Fear has nothing on you."

"Riighhhtt!" Sophie rolled her eyes.

"Let's get back to practice. Don't wanna waste what time we have left. The Blackguard should be there by the time we get back." Mason said, standing up.

*****

"I remember the first time I read a book. It played through my head like a movie. It wasn't even like I was reading the words. It pulled me in, and I felt like I was in another world. The book's world. That is.. hands down... what you accomplished with this book! The detail was amazing, and the way you created this whole world is just... amazing. That's really the only way I can describe it. It is so enticing! I could not put it down! And I am so excited for book number 2!!!"

~~~~
"Raebeth Buda book takes us on an exciting journey with Sophia and her family and friends while she faces new and major challenges in her life. Between fighting things she never knew existed to fighting her self over feelings. The book takes us through an exciting journey of new magical species and the challenges she has to face as a hybrid. I couldn't put this book down. If you are a fan of supernatural, this is one book that needs to be added to your library."
Soon to Release: The Gracious Wife by RaeBeth McGee-Buda
Title: The Gracious Wife
Author: RaeBeth McGee-Buda
Genre: Christian Living
Publish Date: Feb. 5, 2017
****
Book Description:
Marriage can be surreal, unpredictable, and enticing all at the same time. We find and fall in love with our best friend, and all of our dreams seem to be coming true. We've heard of the princess being rescued by her prince and they ride off into the sunset to live happily ever after. Unfortunately, this isn't how marriage is in real life, especially when you're trying to be what God has called you to be. Marriage is two self-centered individuals coming together to live as one.
Given all the foes and dips that may come with marriage, this book gives the basic understanding of marriage the way God intended and not as the way fairy tales has made it out to be. It's meant to help wives be more self-sacrificial toward their husband by acting in grace, love, and forgiveness. In this journey with our best friends, we can work toward being more humbling and giving. It takes more than love alone for a great marriage. The basis of a great marriage starts with a strong spiritual foundation, a strong friendship which grew into a strong romance, along with tons of work, sacrifices, and submission by both partners to make it last.
This book provides Rae-Beth's opinion with communication, getting through the tough times, fair fighting, and keeping God the center of the marriage. Dive in and see marriage from one wife's perspective.
Tell us a bit more about your new book,
The Gracious Wife...
The purpose for my writing this book is directed at all women in all walks of life. My goal is to help those who are looking forward to getting married one day, those who are engaged, and those who are married. As I wrote this book, I included so very personal details about the darker side of my marriage in hopes of giving someone else the opportunity to learn from my mistakes. I feel that we are so focused on what society thinks is a great marriage over what God wants for our marriage. In the past, I was so focused on doing things my way and pointing out where my husband was going wrong; while I did this, I forgot to focus on what God had planned for me as a wife. The transparency and honesty within the pages of this book are to show those who are struggling what I overcame and that it's possible for them to overcome them too.
God wants and desires for us to be the gracious wife he intended. I pray that each person who reads The Gracious Wife can relate to several areas within the book and see their marriage in a different light by the end of their reading. I encourage all women to read this book, even if they're looking to strengthen their joyful marriage. We all know that marriage doesn't come with a manual, but I think this book will make a great engagement gift to a Christian bride to be, a Christian wife who wants to better herself for God and her spouse, and for the struggling wife. There are a lot of Bible references that are there to help guide and direct the reader toward the ways that God intended. I believe this book will be great to refer back to often throughout marriage to help keep us on our intended path.
So, join me in being your husband's crown as you journey with me into being a gracious wife.
Excerpt
The Gracious Wife
(Taken from Chapter one)
Most little girls dream about their wedding day. They want the perfect dress with the perfect pair of shoes for the big walk down the perfectly decorated aisle where their prince charming is waiting to sweep them off their feet and run away to paradise. However, this is where the dream usually comes to a screeching halt; at least for me, it did.
Growing up, I was a very imaginative little girl. I made a castle out of blankets, cars out of boxes, a field into a battlefield, and two rooms in the same house into a neighborhood. But thinking about it, I never went on to dream of how my life would be once I was married. Let's face it, most Disney movies stop once the princess married her prince. (Until years later when the second movie comes out for the second generation and those that saw them aren't interested in fairytales anymore.)
I was married on August 11, 2012, to my prince charming who loved me for the previous eight years. When I walked down the aisle to become Mrs. Buda, it never crossed my mind on what kind of wife I wanted to be for this man I was forever uniting within the eyes of God. It's a little sad to say, but I started thinking about these three years after I was married, and after a handful of problematic situations had occurred, which almost ended my marriage, what I actually wanted for my marriage. Shouldn't we be thinking of the values of a wife/husband before we say I do? I think so.
Self Harm Awareness Day
Will you see the emotional scars?
Self Injury Awareness Day
is today March 1, 2014!
***********
Self Injury Awareness Day - Self-injury or self harming is when a person deliberately hurts themselves physically to deal with the emotional pain they are suffering.
When it comes to self-harm, cutting is thought of as the main way people hurt themselves. But burning, bruising and scratching are amongst other methods used by people who are distressed.  Another misconception is that it's mainly teenage girls that use this coping mechanism - but it also includes people of both sexes and all ages, races and backgrounds.  So why do it?
This mechanism can provide people with a sensation that 'breaks feelings of numbness'.  This emotional pain is caused by issues such as low-self esteem, trauma, perfectionism and abuse.   A person can go on suffering like this while telling no-one and feeling uable to break the cycle.  So how can you help and raise awareness?
Firstly print out a fact sheet, depending on who you are and how you want to help.  From parents and friends, to pamphlets for males and teachers, there is unique advice available for everyone.  Hand these out, or pin them up and use the online templates to send letters off to radio shows or your local MP.  For more information, go to the Self Injury Awareness Day website.
The Silenced Series by RaeBeth McGee-Buda
Here's what some are saying about this page turning series...
 "I think people need to read this book and get a perspective on what actually happens and how depression affects us all!" - Amazon Reviewer (Silenced)
"This is one of the most wicked books that I have ever read. Some of the scenes will make you shudder and want to throttle the main character to her senses."- Amazon Reviewer (Silenced)
  "The book in no way promotes self-harming and identifies some of the risks of it. As a parent it also makes you think about how when you think you are doing the right thing by your kids, it may not be what they interpret." - Amazon Reviewer (Silenced)
"I recommend this to anyone reader who loves Christian suspicion or just wants to read for fun."- Amazon Reviewer (Silenced 2: The Overtaking)
"I think I connected with Amber in a way, fighting the urge of being depressed and not always accepted by the ones you love. Sometimes it takes a tragedy to find who is true family and friends. Learning to love yourself for you and having faith you won't cave under pressure.
Out of the whole book the ending was my favorite, because it goes to show you can overcome all things through Christ.  " - Amazon Reviewer (Silenced 2: The Overtaking)
"The title of the book says it all. You can overcome anything through family, friends, support, and most of all Jesus.The ending was a great little twist for me and though it was perfect for this story. This author did a terrific job." - Amazon Reviewer (Silenced 2: The Overtaking)
Release Day Blitz for Always You by Missy Johnson
I was thrilled when I was offered a graduate teaching position at the prestigious Tennerson Girls Academy.
At twenty-three, this would be my first ‘real’ teaching assignment. Working at the elite boarding school, home to the  daughters of some of the wealthiest people in the world, was a great opportunity that I would’ve been stupid to pass up.
One week into my new job, and I suddenly had no idea why I chose high school…I was a seventeen year old boy once, I knew how teenage girls behaved.
You can’t even imagine the hell of trying to teach thirty, hormonal driven seventeen year olds who have been cooped up, away from any male contact. I could handle the whispers every time I entered the room. I could even handle the obvious attempts at gaining my attention. What I
couldn’t handle was her…
Rich bitches and way too many rules. Was it any wonder that I hated school?
Add to that the lack of male contact, and I was going insane. Like literally. I wasn’t used to this. A year ago I was normal. I had a boyfriend, friends and a loving family. There is nothing normal about me anymore, and nobody here lets me forget that.
My name is Wrenn, and I’m only here because my aunt took me in after what happened, but
my aunt also happens to be the headmistress of this academy…Can you see my problem?
I’m hated for my lack of money, and I’m hated for who my Aunt is. Then he arrived. Dalton Reed. My new history teacher. Slowly, he helped me see that even in the worst situations, there is always hope.
Missy lives in a small town in Central Victoria with her husband, and her confused pets (a dog who think she's a cat, a cat who thinks he's a dog...you get the picture).
When she's not writing, she can usually be found looking for
something to read.
EXCERPT
Just as our nerves started to settle, an ear-piercing woman’s scream good enough to make straight hair curl tore through us. She started shouting in a foreign language. Christy and I scrambled off the bunk bed and stared at the wall we’d been leaning on. Heavy footsteps rushed past our door and muffled orders mingled with scuffling noises.
Help her, Nadia ordered.
Before I could even raise the issue of how I would help, I found myself pounding on the door and shouting to be let out. It occurred to me to check the lock and I did so, feeling oddly relieved to know it was indeed locked. I’d have looked quite the fool standing there shouting to an unlocked door.
George finally whipped the door open. “What?” he grunted.
“Let me help her. I can calm her. I can speak Russian,” I said, all in a rush.
“You can?” George and Christy asked at the same time.
I can? I mentally fired the question at Nadia.
I can, and if you are willing, I can make it seem as if you can, Nadia confirmed.
“Yes,” I said, feeling light-headed.
George grabbed my left arm and hauled me into the hallway.
Once we reached the open doorway to the room next door, I spotted a dark-haired young woman struggling against Travis, Carlos, and two men I didn’t know. Travis’s bear hug had the girl’s arms pinned to her sides. The two new men held her legs still, and Carlos had his hand over her mouth, trying to contain her screams. Our presence surprised the girl enough for Travis and the others to wrestle her to her knees.
“Release her!” I shouted, shocking myself by repeating the order in crisp Russian.
Travis looked up in surprise and nearly lost his grip. He recovered a moment later, but I thought I saw a flash of amusement before he looked away.
“Get her to quit screaming first,” Carlos snapped.
I hadn’t noticed that the girl had renewed her verbal and physical struggles.
I can help once she is calmer, Nadia said, making it pretty obvious what I had to do.
“Calm down, save your strength,” I told the girl.
She twisted her head violently left and released a torrent of vicious speech that, loosely translated, meant, “Shut your face, stupid cow. I don’t need your help. I don’t want your help. These fools don’t know who they’re messing with. My father will kill every one of them.”
I provided the baffled men with a modified translation.
AUTHOR BIO
Julie mainly confines her writing to three genres: Christian inspirational, YA real-world science fiction, and normal science fiction.
She likes teaching, writing, reading, sleeping, doing puzzles, and hanging out with friends. (Not necessarily in that order)
Writing has made her super picky about the things she reads but normally, her reading list includes something that fits under the thriller, mystery, science fiction, or fantasy.
Occasionally, she attempts short poetry. The poems turn into songs, which she sings with abandon when nobody's looking.
