Sunshine Award

The Writing world was awarded the Sunshine Award from The Masquerade Crew!!! First I want to thank them very much for thinking of my blog when choosing their nominations.

So, this is how it works... when you get nominated for this award, you must include the award within the post, link back and thank the person who nominated you, answer 10 random questions, and nominate 5 other bloggers and link them to the award in their comments. It's that easy.

Here are my 10 questions... (which I've used a few from The Masquerade Crew.)

1. Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover?

It depends really. When I am doing literature research, I prefer to have the hardcover of the book I am using. When reading for reviews, I'd like it on my Nook Color. Occasionally, I'll buy a paperback so I don't forget the feel and smell of a book. Yes, I'm weird like that. I love the smell of new books. I mainly get the paperbacks of those author that are out there that are close friends of mine. I like to show my support for my friends by grabbing their work in every way that it's offered.

2. Have you ever written (or started to write) a book?

Yes, I have. As a matter of fact, I'm currently working on four different books. My first one is going through editing and rewrites at the moment. While the others are hanging out waiting for their story to unfold. I plan on self publishing each of my books later on. You can find out more about my books by visiting my website and Facebook

3. What was your favorite book as a child and why?

As a child and growing up, my favorite book is Night by Elie Wiesel.  The strong emotions portrayed within this book always remind me that things could be worse. This book keeps me in check and helps me to do the best I can in every given situation.

4. What type of books do you enjoy reading?

I enjoy just about any. I appreciate the written word. As a writer myself, I know how hard it is to sit down, begin a book, and stick with it. This is one reason why I do what I do. I want to show authors that their work is worth every bit of my time and each author has something different to share with the world. If I had to pick a genre.. it would be thriller or paranormal. I catch myself reading more of those types of books over any other.

5. What do you do when you are not writing?

There are a variety of things I like to do. Top on the list... spend time with my family. Nothing is more important than family. When I'm not spending time with them, you will catch me reading, taking photos, or relaxing while watching my television shows I'm behind on.

6. Do you work with an outline, or just write?

Just write. When I start with a book, I know what the main plot is. But to map out the smaller details is a bit more challenging. I've tried it before and ended up going completely off of my outline. I let my stories take me where they want to go... not the other way around.

7.  What inspired you to write your first book?

To tell you the truth, it's a bit complicated. When I was in high school, we had an assignment where we was asked to write a short story. I did this. Fast forward.... okay while going through boxes one day with my sister... she came across the short story I wrote in school. She was amazed at it and I was amazed at her. (She doesn't like to read). She inspired me to finish it. I expanded on it and then more ideas began coming to me. I put the short story off to the side because my current work in progress took over everything.

8. What would you do if you had a million dollars?

I would want to secretly help families. I would deposit money into their bank accounts for them to find one day. I would donate to the breast cancer association for their research. (My grandmother that I never met... passed away at 36yrs from breast cancer.) Fund my daughters education. Buy a car. (My car is broken right now.) Oh the possibles are endless....

9. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.

"The Boche would not have time to expel us, they were saying... as far as those who had already been deported were concerned, it was too bad; no more could be done."

10. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?

I hear my nephew playing in his play yard and the dog snoring, along with birds chirping outside.

Hi, RaeBeth! Thanks so much for the sunshine award! I've been holed up inside getting ready for this launch for weeks, so it's nice to get even a little virtual sunshine :). Have a great weekend!

You are so sweet! I love your #8! I would absolutely do the same. I told my husband this once when we were talking about if we ever won the lotto, and you know what he said? 'You can do whatever you like with your half'.

Oh that man. I guess I'll have to pay it forward for both of us, lol.
