What do Authors want from Book Bloggers?
by RaeBeth McGee-Buda

It’s no secret. Most Indie Authors rely on bloggers. There are certain requirements we look for when using a blogger for our books. I have put together a small list of these things we look for.

When it comes to blogger requirements, this is one of the first things I look at. I suggest making sure your requirements are easy to find and easy to understand. The less time we have to take to guess the requirements, the more likely we are to contact the blogger.

Be sure it’s easy to contact you. Make the contact me easily noticeable. I really dislike finding a blog I am really interested in and then have an hard time contacting them. I suggest using a contact form, which benefits both the author and blogger. The author doesn’t have to search for it and the blogger doesn’t have to give their email on their blog.

If an author contacts you about their book and it doesn’t fall into the genre you enjoy reading, please don’t accept the book. I dislike when bloggers read out of their normal genre and because their not used to it, they lower the rating of their review for the book. If you’re not truly interested, do not accept the book for review.

When writing a review, be sure you’re talking about the book and not the author. Reviews are meant to help other shoppers when they are looking for a new book. This is not a way to get back at an author you dislike. Yes, I have seen this happen.

When you sign up for an authors event, such as a book tour, be sure you follow through. It takes a lot of work to put together a book tour and authors rely on these for their books. If you are unable to post on the day you’re scheduled, make sure you contact the author in plenty of time and BEFORE your scheduled day. This makes it easier for the author to find a replacement. If you sign up to do a interview with the author, be sure to send your interview questions to the author in enough time for the author to fill it out and send it back. If you sign up to do a review, make sure you once again enjoy the genre and follow through with the review. Authors look forward to the reviews when someone agrees to do one.

These are just a few of the things I have experienced in the past when working with bloggers. I do hope this suggestion list helps out and makes for a pleasant experience for both authors and bloggers while they work together.

- Authors-  Do you have any other suggestions that could be added to the list? If so, leave them in the comments.

-Bloggers- What is one thing that authors do which you would suggest they change?

-Readers- Do you follow book tours? If so, what do you like seeing during the tour?

Love the post, "What do Authors want from Book Bloggers?"

I agree with everything you posted, and are some great things to keep in mind with both the Author's and the Bloggers!

For the blogger question, off the top of my head nothing. I have been glad that I have had the chance to read and review for some awesome authors. They have been very patient with me and kind.

As a reader I do follow book tours. I like reading the questions that are asked to the authors and character interviews. They always make me laugh. :D

Good luck with the sales of your books.

Her books and her writing style are awesome. Her books give you an in depth look at her writing. It is kinda like you are living the book and you never know what twist or turn you will encounter when you turn the page. Love her books!

I loved the article about the blog tour - very informative. It was extremely well written. I also strongly agree that the reviewer should talk about the book, not the author (I've seen that happen more than once and it annoys me. I think, thanks, I know about the author ... now what about the book. I hate coming to the end of an interview or review and still being non the wiser.

Raebeth's writing grips you from the first to the last page, you have no idea where the story is going (no way can you guess the end) and the writing is tight. She is also not afraid to wreak emotions from you.
