(Review) Breaking the Nexus by Lindsay Avalon

Title: Breaking the Nexus
Author: Lindsay Avalon
Pages:
Format: Kindle

Description:
Throughout history, myths and legends of extraordinary creatures have been told and retold. Fantastic tales of demons and banshees, gryphons and dragons, and of course, magic. Stories that every child grows to learn are nothing more than fantasy…or are they?

Beyond the world you see lies a hidden realm, the Mythrian Realm, inhabited by all of the creatures you’ve been told are mere fiction. Only one thing lies between humans and the truth: the Nexus. A magical barrier erected millennia ago to separate the two realms, it has stood the test of time. Until now.

For Mythrian Sha Phoenix, magic is nothing new. But when she stumbles upon a portal on the verge of collapse, her fate will forever change. Pulled through the portal into the Human Realm, she lands in the middle of Detective Connor Flynn’s brutal murder scene. Soon it is obvious someone is using blood magic to try to bring down the Nexus. Together, Connor and Sha must work to unravel the secrets before the barrier falls and the realms collide.

The Nexus is breaking and all hell is about to unleash…literally.

My Review:

This book introduces a new type of paranormal romance. The love between Sha and her new found love Detective Connor Flynn happens in the blink of an eye in the midst of universal madness between to realms. The majority of the book takes place on earth but it introduces the realm of Mythrian. The Mythrian realm hold all magical creatures and it’s purpose is to keep the magic away from humans.

At the beginning of this story, Sha is sucked into the world, which lands her directly into chaos. Shortly after she meets Detective Flynn where she immediately falls in love with him. After hours of questioning, he begins to feel the same way about her. Thus, starting them on a journey they will never forget.

I liked the constant flow of the plot and the main idea behind the story. It’s intriguing. I had no problem getting pulled into the story until I came across the sex scenes. When it came to the love the two main characters showed, it was a bit unbelievable to me. The attraction happened way too fast for as little as the characters spoke to each other. It seemed like the sex scenes were drawn out. I think the attraction between the two could have been drawn out more.
Other than this I think the author did a great job and I’m looking forward to reading the next book. I give this book 4 stars.
